Like
the Crystal Bowl
Jeremiah
18:1-6 1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: 2
"Go down to the potter's house, and there I will give you my
message." 3 So I went down to the potter's house, and I saw
him working at the wheel. 4 But the pot he was shaping from the
clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another
pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
5 Then the word of the LORD came to me: 6 "O house of Israel,
can I not do with you as this potter does?" declares the LORD.
"Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand,
O house of Israel.
Have
you ever looked at a piece of crystal? Crystal comes in so many
different forms. There is the beautiful bowl that has been carefully
cut by a master glass cutter it's appearance is that it is so very
strong. Yet, if the artist makes one wrong cut the bowl will shatter
like the much more delicate Goblet.
So
many look at others the same way as they look at the outside of
the crystal bowl, but God has carved each of us just as the master
glass cutter yet we try to change what he has created, wanting to
mold ourselves to what we think society wants instead of what God
created. It is so very hard to find what it was that God originally
planned when you have strayed. You have put in one more cut into
His finished project and it has shattered. The beautiful creation
is now a jumble of pieces on the floor. We
need to remember, unlike the crystal bowl or goblet that has shattered,
we are able to turn to God and Jesus and ask for forgiveness, guidance,
and read those God breathed words. It is all written for us, to
guide us, and show us how to put those pieces back to the way we
were originally created only a little better and stronger from the
experience.
How
wonderful that God has allowed us to return to him to forgive us
and wipe the slate clean. Not to continually remind us what we have
done. It is almost like we are new again, yes we are new again we
get to start all over with them. What a wonderful gift from God
and his wonderful son, Jesus who gave his life, so we are able to
be reborn in Him and to shine once again.
Dear
Lord Jesus and Father God;
We
thank you for being the potter of our lives to wrap your hands around
us and shape us, to reform us after we have strayed. You have presented
us with gift to be able to be reformed into another beautiful creation
instead of lying on the floor like the shattered crystal bowl. Please
continue to work on us as your beautiful works of art and to share
that beauty with others that come across our path. In Jesus' name;
Amen
