Peace of Jesus

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Again, “peace” has been a study topic during my formal bible study program I attend. Interesting, how the Holy Spirit revisits our hearts to assure us the blessings of knowing Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. His promises to us are all that matters in a world torn apart by the “prince of this world”. We are told to believe on the power of the Holy Spirit and the promise of peace He will bring to us in a turbulent world.

The peace of Jesus transcends all other religions of the world that promise mental or physical rest. We as Christians understand that the indwelling of the Holy Spirit within us; empowers our walk with God and delivers us from the consequences of worldly attacks. We also must expect persecution, affliction, and hatred because we walk in the light not in the darkness of this world. Jesus promised us our triumph over the world (John 12:31). We are to gain strength in our standing with Christ our advocate, who after His ascension to heaven, now sits at the right hand of the Father protecting us and interceding for us. We can take “peace” in knowing that as children of God, because that is our lineage and promise by the Father, that tribulations may come but we are protected by the Holy Spirit and guaranteed that our rest in Jesus Christ is sealed by the authority of His resurrection.

Jesus died on the cross of Calvary giving His last breath in “peace”. Never once during all the agony of his trial, persecution, beating, flogging, and cruel crucifixion did he speak a word of hate towards those who carried out the penalty decreed upon Him. (Psalm 22)

Jesus knew that the disciples would all abandon Him, except for Peter and John (the beloved disciple). Jesus gave to John the entrustment of Mary His mother knowing she would be at peace with John's care.

You see, the Gospel in all the glory it brings to the ears of human kind is all about peace. Peace between God of the universe and mankind. Without Jesus Christ and the peace He alone brings between the Father and mankind, we could have no peace. Man is at odds with God and in sinful nature can not know God. Jesus brings that peace nature to the throne of the Father. Jesus' blood atones for our sins and makes us righteous before the Father in heaven. Our peace in Jesus brings to our souls – rest, comfort, joy, faith, promise, protection eternally, pardon from our sins.

My hope and joy is all in Jesus Christ. Are you a friend of God? Are you resting in the peace of Jesus Christ? Do you have that eternal hope that only Jesus can provide? Do you talk with Jesus every day? Do you discover what His love does for every day providing security and safety? Are you secure eternally in the hand of the Father through Jesus Christ?

Friend, if you do not know the answer to these simple questions or hesitate in answering them, I believe you are a lost soul and not at peace with Jesus. So, then how do I rest in the peace of Jesus?

Simply, pray to Jesus, that's right, just ask Him. If you would say this prayer and mean it in your heart and repent, then you will be saved and at peace with Jesus!

“Lord, I am not at peace with you. I know I am a sinner and I call upon Jesus to come into my heart and forgive me of my sins. Lord, I ask for you to lead me, guide me, and hold me in the eternally secure hand only you can give me. Forgive me Jesus of my sins, come into my heart. Teach me your ways, teach me you're Word of Life, the Gospel so that I may become even closer to you. I ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen & Amen!

In Christ,

Dwight
