Pits of Darkness Part 1
"A Servant's Compass"

(Psalm 23rd verse 4,5 niv) . Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

My first devotional of the year 2010 begins with a sword for victory, one that has become offensive toward the snares of evil. I have truely been wash in the Holy Spirit and flagged with clustered attempts to weaken my faith. I have drawn my sword against the head of serpents and entered the tortured domains that the enemy has claimed.

This morning I want to share a message of courage dressed in faith as I waltz through the deepest pits of darkness.

As kids I where forced with purpose to march into to the principal's office, it was a long graceful movement as my 3rd grade teacher lead me to the room of paddle and pain.  I sometimes revisit moments that have transformed who I am.

At the beginning of this year, I felt out of place as the world around me began to rise in celebration of the coming of a new year. In the mist of the beginning of 2010, a good friend was having some tough times financially and needed some one to help him move out of his apartment. "In this year the enemy is revealing himself in the quietness of dark places".  Let us read on, upon assisting this friend to vacant his apartment, we choose give some of his furniture to one of the family that we support in our outreach to the community. When we arrived at the house a few blocks away, there was a smell of drugs that haunted my me with the memory of my past drug use.   I knew that I had to move quickly out the door to get away from smell.  It was pited reminder of the hell I had been delivered from.  I begin to pray as I return to my cargo van.  My heart was racing from just the strong chemical odor.  It was prayer and faith that substain me as I walk through an old pit of darkness.

There are many pits of darkness that you will drift into as you draw closer to God.  This event was reminder of the presence of evil.  It was a reminder to alway walk in the light of God, it was an acute observation to stay in the Spirit when we are serving in the ministry of our Father in Heaven.  The Holy Spirit is our servant's compass and He will alway make us aware of the presence of evil.

Many of the warriors of God have often drifted from the Holy Spirit.  In a practical day of a servant heart and a brief moment of humanlike pleasure, the pit of darkness can revealed itself.   Let us take residence in the Holy Spirit and learn how to walk through the valleys and pits of darkness that are part of the victory and glory of God.  In Jesus Name.

Servant Prayer:

1 Timothy 1:14: The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

Dear Father, thank You for keeping me, thank You for saving me and thank You for loving me so!  I PRAISE You with all my heart and soul, I praise You with my life, I need You every day and night.  I lift my voice to the Heavens in Jesus Name.  Teach me how to walk with a great faith in You, teach me how to run with boldness and courage.  Release more of your Holy Spirit in me that I will swim in the water of life, that I will shower in your anointing.

Glory to the Lord, Glory to our Saviour,

PRAISE THE NAME OF JESUS!

AMEN
