Thank God for Noodles!

"Seed for the Souls"

This past Sunday I had the honor of speaking at a joint mission effort in Corona, CA. One of the volunteers noticed a group of posted remarks on the wall from kids who we're asked the question, “What are you thankful for”? One of the kids wrote; “ I thank God for noodles!” . From the reading on the wall this child was grateful for the blessing of a simple meal of noodles. That moment set the tone for the service.

Thank God for volunteers

This devotional is about being thankful for the simple things that God blesses us with everyday. I awakend this morning with a renewed mind and appreciation for life. You see, it is never a guarantee that we will be here tomorrow. The smell of the sunlight that warms our face is a gift. Sometimes we forget about the privileges that we as Americans enjoy. I am still learning to appreciate what God has blessed me with. I remember when I did not have a car and the bus was the only means of transportation available. I am thankful for having a car to take me places that are far away.

Thank God for Sunday School Kids

My family and I have been tested by financial circumstances beyond our control. The challenges have made us aware of the simple things that we forget to thank God for. I look back at some of my complaints to God and I realize that I was not being grateful for His loving grace.  Appreciation also allows us to give more of ourselves to others.  The seed that plants love in our heart, becomes a seed of loving kindness to others.  The nature of God's love can be seen in Christ who died for our sins.  This was the greatest gift of all.  When we help others who are struggling, we are saying, thank you Lord for your grace and mercy".  We are saying thank you Lord for your sacrifice. 

Thank God helping at risk familes

I am also grateful for noodles!   It is a simple thing to give to someone who has nothing.  The final test will always include what is left.  Can I give all of my heart  to show my love for GOD?  Can you go beyond yourself into deeper water?  Can you swim to save a soul at risk?

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for all the little things you do for us.  Thank for your sacrifice at Calvary!  Thank you for your love that lives in our hearts.  Thank you for keeping us safe during the storms of life.  Thank you for using us to help others.  Thank you for the church that continues the mission of Christ.  Thank you for the toys and a thousand boxes of love. Thank you for blessing Purple Ark Ministries.  Thank you oh God for the Word that feeds my soul.  My soul loves you dear Lord, my soul loves you.  Thank you for the used clothes that comforts the homeless and the poor.  Thank you for the volunteers that give up their days and nights to honor You!  Thank you for my family that still loves me . 

We love you Lord, we are still trying to get it right.
