“The burden of a Woman”

Matthew 11:28 (Amplified Version) "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.

How do we pick up the pieces after a storm, a battle with cancer, a single mom left behind after a divorce, the death of a love one in Iraq, the life of a woman who has lost someone special? This devotional is dedicated to the burden of a woman. As a child I remember a poor community of women trying to keep their children from falling or failing. As a child I recall my mother's pain and anger from having to bury three children. I watch the frustration of women who could not feed their babies or keep them safe from the world. Today I am still learning about the Christ character of women who endure trials beyond my understanding.

Today I know that God created something very special in the heart and soul of each woman. What does it take to get past the challenges that confront her in a storm? One of the most powerful miracles in life is the strength of a mother, a wife, provider and instrument of God. We must thank God everyday for his gift to man. Let us embrace this part of life with compassion, let us love the beautiful creation that brings joy and life to our world.

Prayer: My heart is heavy as I embrace the burden of a woman. I cry to the Heavens, “Oh God, pour out your healing upon the wound of the soul that has carried new life for your glory”. We pray for restoration in the body and in the minds of your gift to man. Bless every woman who has suffered a lost this year. Whisper to this beautiful carrier of life, tell them how much you love them dear God. Release your sky of angels to minister to the women who are suffering and need your love and care. We invite your Holy Spirit to come and comfort the burden of a woman.
