Ecclesiastes 3:9-13 KJV
What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.
I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God.
Saints of God, to labor for the glory of God is an honor, the God given task at Thanksgiving, the work that we commit to in feeding the homeless, the visitation to the sick, the sheltering of the body of Christ, it is a concert to glorify God, a passion to live in Jesus, it is a gift of love.
When we are in Christ, we are forever searching to share the love of God, occasionally something unexpected happens, we seize a moment to minister to our own spiritual poverty, it was a gift when God we blessed a sanctuary full of volunteers, it rains upon the giver in Christ. Today’s message is about the God given task that we commit to in the service of the Lord, it about how God can use take a rained out event and use it to serve his intended purpose.
On a rainy Thanksgiving morning, around 60 or more volunteers traveled through the wet street to service the poor and homeless. Seeing the outpouring of the rain, some of the volunteers looked displaced, I turn to the pastor of the mission site and ask for everyone to come into the sanctuary for the service and dinner, no one knew what God’s perfect plans was for the many church volunteer that had come,” It became clear as the Holy Spirit filled the altar during the opening prayer, before we could finish praying, I open my eyes to glance at the many volunteers that had filled the church, oh my God, what a wondrous site, it was the volunteers, the churches coming together that God wanted to bless on this day of Thanksgiving, they had all given their time to please God, I could see that every soul was resting in Jesus, no one was left behind on this day, it was a complete covering in his glory, the churches where embraced as one body in Christ.
Today was just one moment that God use a rainy day to have his way!
My question to the readers, can you find Jesus in your storms of life, can you seize a moment in tribulation to exercise a greater faith, a moment to draw closer to God. In Jesus name.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, continue dear Lord to embrace the saints that gathered on a rainy day, speak to the water in their hearts, taken them even farther for your Glory,
“oh what a beautiful day when Jesus leads the way”, not knowing, but walking by faith, that God was going to do something so beautiful on such stormy day. In Jesus I pray, amen. dsmith
